Measuring Roman blinds
View here a visual guide for measuring Roman blinds.
In front of the window (in front of the frame)
Measure the width of the window and add at least 5 cm on both sides. This ensures that the Roman blind properly covers the window.
Measure from the desired mounting point (for example, just above the frame or on the ceiling) down to the floor.
Inside the window frame (within the frame)
Tip: Always use a metal tape measure and measure carefully. Record all measurements in centimeters and do not round up.
Measure the width at three points: top, middle, and bottom. Note the smallest measurement and subtract 1 cm from it. This way, the curtain will fit well in the frame.
Measure the height of the window.
Check that the window frame is at least 5 cm deep to properly install the Roman blind.
Measuring height for wave and pleated curtains
Do you already have a rail installed on the ceiling?
– Measure the distance from the bottom of the rail to the floor in three places (left, center, and right) and subtract 1.5 cm from the smallest measurement if you want the curtains to hang just above the floor.
Are you first installing a new rail or is there already an existing rail on the wall?
– Make sure the rail is level. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the rail to the floor and subtract 1.5 cm here as well, if you want the curtains to hang just above the floor.
Don't have a rail yet?

Measuring height for pinch pleat curtains and eyelet curtains
Are you first installing a new curtain rod, or is there already an existing rod on the wall?
– Make sure the rod is level. Then measure the distance from the top of the rod to the floor and subtract 1.5 cm here as well, if you want the curtains to hang just above the floor.
Don't have a curtain rod yet?
– A curtain rod is usually mounted about 15 cm above the window. Measure from 15 cm above the window down to the floor. Subtract 1.5 cm if you want the curtains to hang just above the floor.
Measuring the width of curtains for rails or rods
Do you already have a rail or curtain rod?
– Measure the total width of the rail or curtain rod and add 5 cm to that.
Don't have a curtain track or rod yet?
– Add 20 cm to 30 cm on both sides of the window for a nice overlap and a more luxurious look.
Wave curtains require a special wave rail with wave gliders. These ensure that the curtain's wave structure
is maintained, even when you open or close the curtain.
Good to know:
- We calculate the exact width of the curtains based on the length of the rail.
- We allow a depth of 8 to 10 cm for the wave, so the curtains hang nicely and the waves are clearly visible.
No worries! Thanks to our Perfect-fit guarantee, you can have the curtains shortened or narrowed by a local upholsterer/tailor. We reimburse 75% of the alteration costs, up to a maximum of €100. This is possible once per order and upon presentation of a valid receipt or invoice from the upholsterer/tailor.
This guarantee only applies to making the curtains smaller, not to lengthening or widening them.
